My trip to the Pink City - Jaipur was in March 2021 and it was very overwhelming. The enchanting Pink City of Rajasthan, known for its rich history, architectural marvels, and, of course, its delectable cuisine. Jaipur's culinary landscape is a perfect reflection of the city's vibrant culture and royal heritage. We will take you on a flavorsome journey through Jaipur's best food finds. From royal Rajasthani delicacies to street food delights, get ready to tantalize your taste buds in the culinary haven of Jaipur. I was so excited for exploring the places, the surreal monuments, the culture, the weather, the food and a lot more! We left our house early in the morning and we managed to reach Jaipur and check-in at the Central Regenta Hotel by 2 PM. This hotel was a dream hotel because it had the most amazing view - THE JAL MAHAL! We could literally see the Jal Mahal from our window and it felt so good with most positive vibes and every tourist spot from here was around 4-5 kms away. We rested up for a bit, got fresh, changed in to our best outfits and woooosh! We were ready to explore the city. We obviously skipped lunch because we had already had our brunch late at a highway dhaba.
So we set off to see the most beautiful Naharagarh Fort. After we came back from this pretty place, we had to eat because we were hungry! So we hunted the most amazing restaurant 1 km away from our hotel room which was a restaurant that served multi-cuisine food.
1. BADAAM MILK
While on our way up the Naharagarh fort, we had to try the regional food-truck Badaam Milkshake toppe with cherries. Obviously, it was March 2021, we were traveling late afternoon (4 PMish) and the temperature would have varied from 25-30%, hence we had to quench the thirst of our throats. So our go to drink was obviously this Badaam Milkshake since we needed some instant energy as well!
Location : Amer Road (towards Naharagarh Fort)
2. DAHI PURI
A bit later in the evening, we had to hog on to some snacks! And there is nothing better than a plate full of Dahi Puri. This match of long golgappe filled with the right fillings, dahi, red chutney topped with some generous amount of sev puri was a life saviour!
3. DAAL BAATI CHURMA @Rainbow Restaurant
This pretty little restaurant located on the Amer Road is a multi-cuisine restaurant serving Chinese, north Indian and even South Indian! While we had already loaded ourselves with some good snacks, it was now time for some crazy Daal Baat Churma. We especially had to try the Dal Baati Chutma Thali here because this is something that shouldn't be missed here when in Rajasthan! A visit to Jaipur is incomplete without savoring the iconic Dal Baati Churma. This traditional Rajasthani dish consists of spicy lentils (dal), baked dough balls (baati) served with ghee, and a sweet crushed wheat dessert (churma). The baatis are typically baked over an open flame or in a tandoor, giving them a smoky flavor. The combination of the flavorful dal, crispy baati, and sweet churma creates a delightful and wholesome experience.
It is one-of-a-kind and personally my favourite!
4. MEETHA PAAN
After our full-course meal, kuch meetha to banta hai na?! So came in the picture, the delicious meetha paan which was a life-saviour! It was so refreshing and is possible the best mouth freshner people consume in India. So here is an image of the best meetha paan we had in the pink city.
After eating a bunch, we then quietly and quickly rushed to our hotel rooms because we had to regain our energy back be ready for the best day. This officially marked the end of Day 1 in Jaipur!
5. DAY 2
Day 2 began and we were ready to explore the place in full-swing. We woke up early morning and went for a good & relaxed morning walk besides Jal Mahal (one of our best decisions ever). It was so calm and peaceful here that we were just not ready to go back to our rooms, change and carry the day ahead! So we sat there for a while, calmly and peacefully staring at the river - the water, the trees, the birds, the sky, the ducks and the fish - while listening and remembering to a hundred stories of the HAUNTED JAL MAHAL which we had heard from the locals.
6. KULFI FALOODA
Anyway, when we revived from the stories and the daydreams and came back to reality, we immediately were in our best clothes ever and headed towards the City Palace. I immediately fall in love with the history of the places and people and a similar kind of thing happened here. When we came out of the historic stories, we realized that we were too hungry and headed to one of my very close friend's local business in the name of "RAM SEWAK SAHU GAJAK UDHYOG".
7. RAJASTHANI THALI
Second day continued with us visiting The Albert Hall Museum and living my best moments here. It was 2 PM already and we were extremely hungry so we left the place immediately after we covered it and captured it into our eyes. As per the plan we were to visit the Hawa Mahal and the wind view restaurant as well, but I also wanted to try the rajasthani thali (sometimes things do not exactly go by plan). So we were now again on our way to Amer Road so we stopped by the rainbow restaurant once again for lunch and ordered the Rajasthani Thali. It comprised of Chhachh, Gatte ki sabzi, mix veg, Daal, Baati, Churma, Ghee, Chutney, mirchi ki sabzi, missi roti and salad. This was particularly something to die for and as soon as I had this, I felt full up to the brim and I was satisfied to the core. To experience the royal flavors of Rajasthan in one sitting, treat yourself to a traditional Rajasthani Thali. These elaborate thalis offer a wide variety of dishes that showcase the best of Rajasthani cuisine. From Bajre ki Roti (millet bread) and Gatte ki Sabzi (gram flour dumplings in curry) to Ker Sangri (dried desert beans and berries) and Kheer (rice pudding), a Rajasthani Thali is a gastronomic feast that will leave you satisfied and amazed.
It felt like, "Finally, my goal to visit Jaipur is accomplished since now I have had the best regional cuisines."
8. RABDI KULFI
After lunch, we headed to AMER FORT (like obviously) and spent the second half of the day exploring each and every corner of this fort. It was an amazing experience. We were done by 6 Pmish and while we were coming back to basics, we found this amazing vendor selling rabdi kulfi and since it was 25 degrees, I immediately had to try it!
9. HOT DOODH
Travel exhausts you. And so were we. Eating so much junk, sugar and heavy food, I wasn't ready for dinner and it was 8 PM already while we were driving on the roads of Jaipur. We then decided to skip dinner and rather have a glass of hot and sizzling milk.
So we headed to the Jodhpuri Sweets corner where this man was selling milk (malai maar ke) in a hot kadhai and I instantly wanted it! So I ordered a glass for myself and enjoyed it.
10. RASMALAI
From the same place, we also got rasmalai packed for ourselves and headed to the hotel room to rest up a bit. Since the next day, we had to drive back to Delhi, hence getting rest for ourselves was extremely important.

At night, while we were in the hotel room, I was cherishing the two days we had spent here. We planned to visit the Hawa Mahal the next day, but we had to hunt and shop from the local markets as well. So , the next day while markets opened up by 11 AMish, we shopped for ourselves and explored the local markets. While I bought a jooti, a saree and a Jaipuri block printed dupatta for myself, at the back of my head I had mixed emotions about leaving this place. We had an early lunch here too and by 2 PMish we life this beautiful city.
